Pretty Parlor Fashion Show from Anthony Simon on Vimeo
Have you been tempted to stop at the cute looking vintage store across from the Starbucks on Olive? Pretty Parlor ("Where Audrey Hepburn meets Judy Jetson") seems worth checking out - this is a well-produced video of their 2006 fashion show.

Neighborhood Oscar Parties
The two that I know about which look fun are the following:
- Reel Grrls (a nonprofit whose goal is to empower young women through film) hosts an Oscar party at Central Cinema - featuring gourmet dining, champagne, film trivia, awards (including best Dressed) and a celebration of women in film both in Hollywood and here at home. Doors open at 4:00pm. Red carpet attire.
- If you're not up to dressing up, then you may prefer the Bottleneck Lounge - where they've cooked up a Red Carpet Special (a glass of Segura Viudas Brut Cava paired with a smoked salt caramel by Fran's Chocolates) - coverage begins at 5 pm

The Great Monsoon Brunch Compromise
Ever since CHS first brought it to my attention years ago, I have been a fan of Monsoon's brunch offering. If you have friends that are not big fans of eggs, Monsoon has some creative alternatives. They offer a small but expertly executed dim sum menu (watch out for the daikon cakes - they are not vegetarian), waffles as well as some nooodle dishes - all beginning at 10 a.m on Saturdays and Sunday. Their egg dishes are also recommended. The menu changes daily, so it varies a bit from what you see on the website. For instance, the $3 rose is not listed but is currently offered. At 10 a.m. on a Saturday, there were plenty of seats available, so our friends with a nine-month old felt comfortable settling in.
