Mirch Masala: Good Indian Food

I was born in India and lived there for several years, before moving to the U.S. Friends often ask me if I have a favorite Indian restaurant in Seattle. So far, the answer is no. On this side of Lake Washington, I have eaten at Tandoori Hut, Laadla, Maharaja, Chutney's and Pabla. On the Eastside, I have eaten at Udupi Palace (a bit disappointing - the dosas were reheated, not fresh) and Mayuri. All of these places have good dinner dishes (I dislike lunch buffets). Eric and I decided to try dinner at Mirch Masala. I had high hopes for the place after reading this Stranger blurb. We split the mixed appetizer plate (a combination of samosa, pakora and fried paneer) and decided that though delicious, it was too heavy for two people to split. Eric had the Paneer Masala with basmati rice and I had the Tandoori Shrimp with Onion Kulcha. We also had some Taj Mahal beer with our meal (Eric's tip: two 12 oz of the Taj beer are the same price as the 22 oz version). Both of us liked our dishes (they certainly didn't skimp on the shrimp in mine - 9 sizeable crustaceans), and we will definitely repeat our visit.

Good to know. Will have to check it out. We've ordered delivery from India Express when we haven't felt like cooking or leaving the house. Food was fine, and it's an alternative to pizza. Plus free delivery on the hill!

I'm no Indian food expert, but my favorite Indian restaurant is Taste of India on Roosevelt... so good.
